Troops of the 1 Brigade of the Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma, in collaboration with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), have successfully intercepted a significant cache of arms in the Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation, carried out on January 27, 2025, followed intelligence reports indicating the activities of suspected arms dealers operating from the Niger Republic.
According to a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday by Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator Joint Media Centre, Operation FASAN YAMMA, “Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the troops launched a covert operation to track the suspects.
“The pursuit unfolded along the Kaura Namoda-Zurmi road, where the suspects attempted to evade capture by veering their vehicle into the bush. However, the troops’ tactical response forced the suspects to abandon their vehicle and flee.
“A thorough search of the abandoned vehicle yielded the following items:/, 2 PKT machine guns, 9 AK-47 rifles,13 magazines,171 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and 9 rounds of PKT ammunition”
In a related development, the troops are intensifying their efforts to capture the wanted terrorist Bello Turji, who continues to evade arrest by frequently changing his hideouts.
