A family of three including; husband, wife and six months old baby are currently cooling their feet in the custody of the Kebbi state command of state security services, on the instructions of the state governor, Senator Atiku Abubakar Bagudu.
A relative of the detainees who preferred to remain unknown told our correspondent that armed operatives of the secret police last Saturday raided the house of one Nasiru Jatau in yauri local government area of kebbi state before 1am, broke his door after several knocks without response, and whisked the couple away with their six months old breastfeeding baby and are still at the detention camp as at the time of this report.
The source said that the wife Aisha a breastfeeding mother was accused of sending a text message to his excellency Senator Atiku Bagudu to please settle her late father’s death benefits, the content of the source said added that she reminded the governor that they are orphans and need something to sustain themselves, while the husband Nasir Jatau was also alleged to have been using Facebook to insult the governor.
The mother of the detained family confirmed to us on phone that all entreaties to the governor to release the family has not yielded any result as they are still under custody of the DSS. “ A high court judge phoned the state director of SSS who confirmed that, they are being detained on the order of the governor but are in good condition but no one was given access to them for one week” the source said.
However efforts to get the DSS kebbi state command to react on the issue were not successful because they don’t have a spokesperson and there is no access to the office. Also the media aid to the governor Muazu Dakin Gari said he needed some time before reacting to the issue.
