Wigwe University, established by the late former CEO of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, is gearing up to welcome its inaugural batch of students in the coming months.

Located in Isiokpo, Rivers State, the university aims to offer top-tier education, preparing students to excel in a rapidly evolving world.

Wigwe tragically passed away in a helicopter crash alongside his wife Chizoba and son Chizzy in California on February 9, 2024.

With its launch, Wigwe University is poised to become the most costly tertiary institution in Nigeria. The institution will feature four main colleges: Management and Social Sciences, Art, Science and Computing, and Engineering.

According to information available on the school’s website, tuition fees vary across colleges, with the Arts College being the most affordable at N9.6 million.

Students enrolled in the College of Engineering, Management and Social Sciences, and Science and Computing will incur fees totaling ₦11,998,800 each. These fees encompass various academic necessities such as tuition, books, laboratory supplies, and personal protective equipment.

In addition to tuition, students must also consider accommodation fees, which range from ₦1,000,000 to ₦3,845,000 per session, depending on the chosen housing plan.

While defending the decision to charge in dollars, the university management clarified that local students would pay in naira, while international students could opt for dollar payments. This strategic choice reflects the institution’s commitment to fostering a diverse and globally minded student body.
