Peter Obi

The campaign team of Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has clarified that his recent visit to the party secretariat in Abuja was a reconciliatory move, not an endorsement as reported by some media outlets. Obi’s Campaign Spokesman, Yunusa Tanko, stated that the visit was part of Obi’s efforts to unite the party and resolve internal conflicts.

Tanko emphasized that Obi met with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress political arm to seek an end to their conflict with the party. He reiterated that Obi’s interest is to carry everyone along into one strong family, not to endorse anyone’s interest.

However, the Abure-led National Working Committee (NWC) has countered Tanko’s statement, warning against twisting the intent of Obi’s visit. National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, stated that both Obi and Abure are on the same page regarding reconciliation and uniting the party.
