In a significant development ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin, the Super Eagles have received a major lift with the return of William Troost-Ekong to training.

Troost-Ekong, sidelined since undergoing surgery for an injury sustained during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, has made a remarkable recovery. His standout performance during the tournament earned him the Player of the Tournament accolade, including a crucial goal against Cote d’Ivoire.

Initially expected to be out for the rest of the 2022/23 season, the defender is now back in contention for PAOK Salonica’s final three league matches.

His timely return is poised to provide a significant boost for the Super Eagles, who are yet to secure a victory in the qualifiers. With Troost-Ekong’s defensive prowess and leadership back in the fold, Nigeria aims to turn the tide and reignite their campaign for World Cup qualification under the guidance of coach Finidi George.

  1. I’ve been browsing the internet for more than three hours, and I haven’t seen any posts as fascinating as yours. I think it’s well worth the investment. If more bloggers and website owners created content as good as you do, the internet would be significantly more useful than it already is.
