The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, has urged newly married couples to uphold the sanctity of marriage and remain committed to its values as a foundation for peaceful and progressive societies.
Dingyadi gave the advice on Friday in Sokoto while standing in as the bride’s father during the wedding Fatiha of A’isha Yusuf Dingyadi and Bashir M. Bashir, held at the Sultan Dan Ma’azu Jumu’at Mosque.
Speaking shortly after the solemnization of the marriage, the minister emphasized the importance of mutual respect, understanding, patience, and adherence to religious teachings in building successful homes.
He noted that strong family values remain essential for societal development and urged the couple to nurture their union with love, trust, and commitment.
The marriage was solemnized by the Chief Imam of Dan Ma’azu Jumu’at Mosque, Sheikh Usman Aliyu, following the payment of a dowry of N200,000.
A’isha is the daughter of the Senior Special Assistant to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Media.
The ceremony attracted prominent personalities from within and outside Sokoto State.
Among those in attendance were the Secretary to the Sokoto State Government, Alhaji Bello Sifawa, who represented Governor Ahmed Aliyu; a factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bello Goronyo; Executive Chairman of the Zakkat and Endowment Commission, Alhaji Lawal Maidoki; serving and former federal and state lawmakers; a former Head of Service of Sokoto State; religious and traditional leaders, academics, journalists, and members of the business community.
The wedding was marked by prayers for the couple’s successful and peaceful marital life, as well as for continued unity and prosperity in the state and the country.
